Flaming Lips Replace Erykah Badu with Amanda Palmer in their Cummy, Bloody, NSFW Video

The Flaming Lips kicked up their fair share of controversy a couple months back when they released their collaboration with Erykah Badu, a cover of Roberta Flack's heart-wrenching "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face," along with a video featuring Badu's sister Nayrok naked, in a bath tub and slathered with bodily fluid like blood and semen. The fallout was almost immediate, with Badu claiming that the Flaming Lips intentionally edited the video so that people would mistake her for her sister and that she was lured to the video's set with a false concept, only to have the band's frontman Wayne Coyne change the video to a more provocative narrative at the last minute.

The video was quickly taken off the internet, only to now, just under three months later, resurface, this time with The Dresden Dolls' Amanda Palmer on lead vocals instead of Erykah Badu. Additionally missing from the new version is the bathtub full of cum, blood and, most whimsically, gold glitter, with Palmer instead showing off her vagina in boring old water. My goodness, it's almost quaint.

And here, for your gross-out pleasure, is the original.

Thank god for Amanda Palmer. It would have been a shame if another month went by without The Flaming Lips having the opportunity to exploit a woman's body. It's a good thing AFP is so much cooler than other women and doesn't mind exploiting herself for the benefit of a group of wealthy, middle-aged white guys. It's also nice to know that one woman's talent (and body) are so easily exchanged for another's.
