Want evidence that the youth of today are morally bankrupt and disgusting? Here you go: rape tag.
According to MSNBC, the game in question was a popular recess pastime at Washington Elementary School in New Ulm, Minnesota. According to a letter from the principal, rape tag was "similar to freeze tag except that a person had to be humped to be unfrozen." School officials learned about the game from an outraged parent of a fifth grader — and, to their credit, it looks like they took quick action. The principal's letter says that fifth grade teachers talked to their classes about rape tag, and all school staff were told to watch for and stop any incidents of the game. It also says the kids appear to have quit playing.
I don't envy the teachers who had to explain to their students why playing a game with rape in the title isn't okay. Or the parents who found out their fifth-grader had made a game out of sexual assault — unless of course that fifth-grader was uncomfortable with it and letting his or her parents know. Kids are known for pushing the offensiveness envelope, and I'm sure the ones at Washington thought they were being hilarious (much like older, more web-savvy kids). Let's hope they've learned that rape isn't fucking funny, before any of them grow up to be bro bloggers.
