For sheer ridiculousness, radness, style and bold failure, there is nothing like a real fashion event. (Exhibit A: L'Wren Scott; Steven Jones, left.) Luckily for us, that means the British Fashion Awards 2008 at London's Lawrence Hall, where Claudia Schiffer, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Sadie Frost and a pride of clotheshorses strutted some awesomely ludicrous glad rags. Hats, capes, baubles, bangles and beads, after the jump.
The Good:
I don't think I can express the fierce pangs of envy this picture of Roisin Murphy arouses in my breast.
How retro-glam and spy-ish is Claudia Schiffer's noir number?
Is Tara Palmer Tomkinson looking a touch Studio 54? Hell's yeah.
In the wrong hands — or at another event — what a disaster Jade Parfitt's confection could be! And yet, it's stunning!
This looks cool...on Jourdan Dunn. Damn you, genetics!
Is Sadie Frost's frivolous party frock darling and fun, or is her inclusion a blatant piece of name-based nepotism? The world may never know.
If there were a 'Best In Show' category for humans, Erin O'Connor would be a shoo-in, receive a particularly choice bone.
The Bad:
Why does Anouck Lepere's ensemble look so anemic? Fifty years ago, it would have had to eat lots of liver. Now, a supplement will probably do it.
There are a lot of schools of thought on 80's revival, one inarguable one that it's got the lifespan of the Undead. Camilla Dallerup is apparently okay with this.
Sophie Ellis-Bextor is fabulous. This Gothic Lolita special? Not so much. And let's nip this white tights thing right now.
I'd be totally into Louise Foe's ethereal dinner napkin, were it not for the scroll-down.
