Kim Fields cannot handle another season of the bullshit that comes with being on Real Housewives of Atlanta. So after just one season, she’s leaving (leaving) on a midnight train to Georgia. She says she’s going back (going back to find) a simpler place and time.
Fields confirmed the news in an interview with The Rickey Smiley Morning Show in Atlanta. When the host asks if she can tolerate a second season of RHOA, given how ill-fit for the experience she seemed throughout it, Fields says, “Feels more like Brett Favre and the Jets, you know. I’m done. Think about, at the beginning of the season, what did my mama say? ‘Get in and Get out.’ Listen to your mama.”
It’s for the best. Fields claims she had fun taping, but it really didn’t show much except when she was around Phaedra. “It was for the experience,” says Fields. “It was to be able to do a genre that I’d been asked to do before and finding a way to do it that makes sense for my team and I and the family. Overall, it was a really great experience.”
This fast exit is absolutely no surprise, since Kim was clearly out of her element and over it from the start, so much so that her position as an outsider became a topic of shade and led to a vacation breakdown. In Sunday’s reunion episode, Andy Cohen asked everyone if they felt Kim was out of her element on the show and most agreed. They all think she’s either too non-confrontational or too judgmental. And so, Kim was given the highest compliment ever: being told that you’re not reality TV material.
Shame, because Kim was just getting a feel for the drama, with most of her friction coming from Kenya Moore, who accused Kim of “belittling” her and the other cast members while taping. Here’s video of Kim screaming “You don’t get to keep interrupting people!” at Kenya during the reunion, and then daring her to “say something.” It’s probably the second best RHOA reunion moment after Phaedra’s “Fix it Jesus.” Mama was proud.
However, Kim has already moved on to bigger and better things, being a contestant on Dancing With the Stars. May she find peace.
