We've been reading a lot about the awesome costumes in Baz Luhrmann's new epic Australia, but for whatever reason, the sartorial splendor at the film's premiere fell short: Nicole Kidman, High Jackman and the rest of the attendees at Sydney's George Street Greater Union Cinemas looked bizarre — from strange gowns to odd jewels to inexplicable inspirations. The Good, The Bad, The Australian...after the jump!
The Good:

Antonia Kidman's flapper dress, little girl are both adorable.

Jodi Gordon's sparkly black is easy, sweet.

Brandon Walters looks totally sharp!

Yeah, the bandage dress's hourglass is running out, but as Jennifer Hawkins shows, it's still pretty fail-safe.
The Bad:

I admire Ruby Rose's boldness...kind of.

Nicole Kidman's dress is more meh than bad...I just don't think it does much for her.

There are about three completely absurd things about Deborah-Lee Furness's outfit. Hugh still thinks she looks gorgeous!

Kerri-Anne Kennerly channels pageant Glinda.

I'm all about mixing high and low, but a sundress with the crown jewels, like Sarah Murdoch? Not so sure.

Maria Venuti is not afraid to make a statement. What kind of statement, I'm not sure.

Am I the only one who primarily remembers Deborah-Lee Furness as David's mother in Newsies?
