To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Titanic's tragic hit and run with an iceberg, a Houston restaurant is offering what it calls the "Titanic Experience": a 10-course, 4-hour meal featuring authentic Titanic food at the super exclusive Macy's Table in a room suspended from the restaurant's ceiling, all for the low, low price of $12,000.
Diners are invited to sample a bottle of Armagnac brandy from 1900 and taste food that was probably more or less what passengers aboard the ill-fated Titanic tasted right before the overpowering flavor of extreme panic wiped their palates clean. Of course, a truly authentic Titanic experience wouldn't be complete if Cullen's didn't provide a strapping young Irish dishwasher to seduce the disaffected fiancees of male patrons, or a bucket of extra cold glacial water with which to douse diners in between their eighth and ninth courses, just to remind them how macabre a Titanic themed dinner is.
