Elle Australia Cover Features Model Breastfeeding Her Infant

The June 2015 subscriber cover of Elle Australia features model Nicole Trunfio breastfeeding her four-month-old, Zion (whose dad is musician Gary Clark, Jr.).

While breastfeeding photos no longer elicit the pearl-clutching reaction they once did—especially when the mother in question is an impossibly perfect model-type—but as Fashionista points out, it’s still rare for these images to make it to cover; this is the first time an Australian magazine has featured a woman breastfeeding on a cover.

“This wasn’t a contrived situation: Zion needed a feed, Nicole gave it to him, and when we saw how beautiful they looked we simply moved her onto the set,” said Elle Australia’s editor-in-chief Justine Cullen in a post about the June issue. “It was a completely natural moment that resulted in a powerful picture.”
