Earworm: Iggy Azalea and Keyshia Cole's Cover of 'I'm Coming Out'

Latest

What we did to deserve this, I don’t know, but I will take my medicine: Iggy Azalea and Keyshia Cole have paired up to record a version of “I’m Coming Out” for movie of the year, The Other Woman.

You will remember “I’m Coming Out” as a song first sung by Diana Ross and then sampled in Biggie Smalls’ “Mo Money Mo Problems.” It was also covered by Amerie for the Jennifer Lopez romantic comedy Maid in Manhattan (as I remember it there’s a scene where all the maids dance to this song in a locker room?) and was most famously sung by a series of talking belly buttons in a commercial for Levis Superlow jeans (I didn’t need any convincing that Superlows were the way to go but that ad definitely nudged me in the then-sartorially correct direction). Getting two strong ladies of hip hop to cover a song about girl power for a movie all about ladies sticking it to a man seems an apt if hilariously mesmerizing call.
