Pantone has announced the 2013 Color of the Year, and it is Emerald. A jewel-tone green.
The peeps at Pantone say:
"Lively. Radiant. Lush… A color of elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of well-being, balance and harmony."
What does this mean for you? Well, it means every damn thing you see is going to be green next year. Pantone's 2012 color was Tangerine Tango — a juicy orange — and we saw a shitload of orange nails, orange dresses on the red carpet and orange on the runway. Heels, sneakers, sunglasses, necklaces, etc. It used to be tangerine. And now it will all be emerald.
But, according to the LA Times:
The paint company Sherwin-Williams named a midcentury-tinged blue called Aloe — "a hint of mint and lots of moxie" — as its top hue for 2013.
Not to be outdone, Benjamin Moore has named Lemon Sorbet as its color of year for 2013, a "whispery tint" that is "evocative of the [economic] uptick."
Personally, I found tangerine very flattering and happy... I'm slightly worried green may not be my color. Thoughts?
