Demi Lovato Narrowly Avoids Killing Paul McCartney and Ruining Her Career

Demi Lovato seems like an eminently likable person, and her willingness to talk openly about her struggles with self-harm is admirable. But last night she did something that almost destroyed her public image for all time: She almost killed a Beatle.

She was in a parking lot in L.A. when she nearly took down Paul McCartney. The Paul McCartney. SIR Paul McCartney. Obviously, you don't do something like that without tweeting about it, so here's what she had to say. (Three tweets are combined for efficiency.)

So.... today I was pulling into a parking space that some guys were standing in the middle of, and almost hit them..... When one of the guys turned around.... it was a BEATLE........ Yes, YOU HEARD ME.... SIR PAUL McCARTNEY!!! He was so sweet!! Can't believe I met him today.. WOW! And.... I can't believe I almost ran over a Beatle....... :l

Thank God, crisis was averted. No Beatles were killed and no teen star careers ruined. There's probably a "Baby You Can Drive My Car" joke to be made here, but I'm still a little too panicky at the thought of this near miss to make it. Anyway, you can bet Lovato will be extra careful when parking from now on, and maybe it's time we make McCartney start wearing a reflective vest for safety's sake. [E!]

Alec Baldwin's stalker, Genevieve Sabourin, was arraigned last night in New York on aggravated harassment and stalking charges. A temporary restraining order has been issued against her as well. It turns out she met Baldwin on the set of The Adventures of Pluto Nash. (Wow, raise your hand if you'd totally erased that film from your memory.) They then met "briefly" for dinner in 2010, but after that she kept harassing him, and eventually, despite him telling her to stop, she came to New York and began full-on stalking him. [E!]

Justin Bieber is on the cover of the new Seventeen, and he offers up some thoughts on his romance with girlfriend Selena Gomez: "I'm just trying to make her happy, that's all." Uh huh. Go on. "I think it's important to make all women feel like they're princesses, because every girl is a princess. I'm serious." We'll give you an "A" for effort, Biebs. You are only 18, so you have a while before you figure out that every girl is a princess in the same way that every man is a prince. Though, in your case, you sort of are the American version of a prince, so we can see where your confusion arose. [Us]

Suddenly it seems like you can't take ten steps on the internet without reading something about One Direction, but this item is definitely the best piece of 1D info yet. Band member Louis Tomlinson dreams of owning a primate as a pet:

I'd like to adopt a chimpanzee and build an eternal friendship. That would be amazing. I am a big Michael Jackson fan.

That would be amazing... Until it grew up and chewed your face off. [OK!]

Proving that he is never going to survive unless he gets a little crazy—or keeps things a little crazy or however you want to reword the lyrics of that godforsaken song—Seal has filed a response to Heidi Klum's divorce petition. In it, he mentions "community and quasi-community assets" and also seeks joint custody of the kids, instead of just visitation rights. So, game on. Let's just hope this gets settled with a minimum of drama, and they don't spill any venom onto each other's leather pants in the process. [TMZ]

  • Today in way harsh, we have the story of Adam Levine, whose recent breakup from model Anne Vyalitsyna might have blindsided him. Apparently, she dumped him by announcing it to the world without giving him a heads-up. They'd been together for two years, so that is about as low as you can go in terms of break-up strategy. One of Adam's "pals" says, "It was a cheap shot. Anne didn't want it to look like he broke up with her." If this is true, that's a maje ouch. [Us]
  • Beyonce hit the beach in St. Barts yesterday. She's wearing an understated black one piece, instead of her usual bikini, but she looks great. And, yes, I know you're not supposed to put newborn babies in the sun, but why can't Blue Ivy™ be out there floating around on a tiny inflatable yacht with her mom? [Extra TV]
  • Well, well, well. Ricki Lake snuck off and got married this weekend to her fiancé, Christian Evans. They wed in a secret ceremony in California, but don't worry they're publishing the pictures, so we'll get to see it later this week. [Reuters]

  • Game of Thrones fans can issue a hearty "hoorah" because it's just been picked up for a third season, even though the second season has just barely gotten underway. HBO probably understood that winter is coming, and they need to stockpile episodes so we have enough to get us through the long dark night. [E!]
  • Finally, someone has taken the time to explain why the line "tossed salad and scrambled eggs" is part of the song for Frasier. I won't give it away, though fair warning the answer makes about as much sense as the line itself. [BWE]
