Cyndi Lauper & Lady Gaga Go Off Script, Discuss Safe Sex On GMA

Latest

Today on GMA, Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper discussed their work with M·A·C’s VIVA GLAM campaign against HIV/AIDS. Then, Lady Gaga uttered words no producer wants to hear: “I don’t know if this is too much for morning TV, but…”

Gaga said she and Lauper want their friendship to set an example for young women because:

Everyone has that… phone call of, “Oh my gosh, you won’t believe what I did last night. I was so stupid I didn’t use a condom,” and there’s all this laughter on the phone… I’ve gotten those phone calls, and it’s our job as friends to one another to say, “I don’t know why you’re laughing because it’s very serious. I really don’t feel there’s enough women who are educated about AIDS, how quickly it’s spreading, how dangerous it really is, how many people really have it, and we want to do good jobs as women who represent a sexual community and a strong independent group.

Lauper added that she hopes people will buy the new lipstick shades named for her and Gaga and, “Give this to your kid sister, tell her about AIDS, tell her you can die from it… You put the lipstick on, let it remind you ‘be prepared.'”
