Colbert: "As Much A Feminist As Any Guy Who Doesn't Support Feminist Causes"

Latest

“You’re a woman. Women judge other women. Harshly,” said Stephen Colbert to Janny Scott last night.

The author of A Singular Woman, a biography of President Obama’s mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, declined to call Dunham a bad mother for staying in Indonesia for part of her son’s childhood. It was one of those moments where it wasn’t entirely clear how much Colbert was in character and how much that decision actually troubled him.

Though when he quipped, “I am as much a feminist as any guy who doesn’t support feminist causes,” it was both hilarious and untrue; judging from the content of his show and the women he often has on, he’s as much or more of a feminist as we get on popular TV these days.
