Chuck C. Johnson is many things: a conservative blogger, a relentless truth-seeker, a person who probably did not shit the floor that one time. But one thing he is not, ladies and gentlemen, is a hypocrite, which is why he's refusing to back down from an "explosive" story about a conservative woman who cheated on her husband one time, a story that's impressing no one and pissing off Chuck C.'s usually loyal base.
That woman is Holly R. Fisher, who sometimes calls herself "Holly Hobby Lobby," a star on Conservative Twitter. If you recognize her, it's because of attempted liberal-baiting photos like these, which have been shared a bajillion times apiece:
Fisher isn't famous apart from her high follower count and it's unclear why Johnson thought anyone would be hugely interested in her extra-marital activities. Nonetheless, Johnson published a *sHoCkInG* exposé on a one-night stand Fisher supposedly had with Joel Frewa, another Tea Partier.
The short version is that the two slept together at a conference, Johnson found out about it, and after they exchanged some DMs (Fisher denying it at first, Johnson vaguely threatening: "Do you want to stop lying?"), she wrote a very long, heartfelt public Facebook post that's since been removed or made private, about a dark time in her life that she says led to her affair: "My life crumbled. My marriage crumbled. I lost my faith in God. I didn't know where I was going to go next or what I was going to do. For a very short period in the middle of that, I thought my marriage was over and found someone else."
OK. Anything else?
No?
That's it? That's the whole story? Two people had sex with people other than their spouses?
Yep. Which is why, as Little Green Footballs points out, people who usually support Chuck are pretty damn furious about this whole thing, launching an #IStandWithHolly hashtag filled with tweets like this:
If that weren't enough, Fisher's husband David has also piped up to tell Chuck to shut up and mind his own goddamn marital beeswax:
As things continue to devolve, Johnson is defending himself by arguing that Fisher deserved it because she's an asshole on Twitter:
In truth, though, Johnson did this because he's a nasty little shit, whose entire reason for being is humiliating anyone he possibly can, and doing it under the paper-thin guise of being The Last Honest Reporter, the only man with the guts to tell us all Which Tea Party Genitals are Interacting. It's far from the worst thing he's ever done to a private citizen, but it's still pretty gross.
Great job, Chuck. You've forced us all to sympathize with Holly Hobby Lobby.
