Charlize Theron To Star In Diablo Cody's Next Movie

Diablo Cody‘s next movie will be a Juno reunion of sorts, with Jason Reitman directing and the same production company. A likely new addition: Charlize Theron, to star as a stalker ex-girlfriend — an “anti-hero,” in Cody’s words.

This is how Cody described Young Adult a few months ago:

I’m working on a movie about a woman who’s stalking her high-school sweetheart. It has elements of humor, but it’s pretty serious and fucked up. You don’t get to see women be antiheroes that often, where it’s like somebody like Mickey Rourke, who gets a comeback in The Wrestler. It’s rarer that you’ll have a studio say, “Let’s have an actress come back and be ugly!

Actually, Theron is an actress who has repeatedly chosen roles that de-emphasize her Hollywood goddess looks, most memorably in Monster (where she also happened to be playing a serial killer ex-prostitute) and North Country. So, good fit!
