Cathie Black Out As NYC Schools Chancellor

The former chair of Hearst Magazines (publisher of Cosmopolitan and Marie Claire) lasted less than 100 days in the position, during which she was criticized for lacking any education experience and being out of touch or elitist. On Monday, a poll put her approval rating at 17 percent.

Black is already being referred to as Mayor Bloomberg’s Harriet Miers. Her replacement is Deputy Mayor Dennis M. Walcott. (All three are seen in the photo above, taken in January.)
