Cat Adoption Ad Paints a Sad, Lonely Picture of Pre-Cat Life

Latest

The message of this cat adoption “infomercial” seems to be that one requires a cat to spackle over the gaping emotional hole in one’s heart. Perhaps, clever ad people, perhaps, but cats are also great at hunting, torturing, and killing small household pests such as roaches, moths, and, if you live in the Southeastern United States, lizards.

Maybe, instead of focusing on how prospective cat owners will fill the void in their miserably lonely lives by adopting a cat, Big Feline should focus on how cats are efficient, low-maintenance killing machines. I’m no copywriter, but maybe something like, “Get a cat, solve your palmetto bug problem, you slovenly, crumb-dispersing apartment-dweller” would be appropriate.
