Bret Easton Ellis Actually Wrote Kanye's Terrible American Psycho Clip

Latest

King Douche Kanye West (the douche you love) is a big fan of King Douche Bret Easton Ellis (the douche you hate) — so much so that he paid homage to the author during the promotion of Yeezus by recreating the iconic Huey Lewis & the News scene from the film American Psycho, which is based on Ellis’ novel of the same name (it’s also one of the few instances where the movie is better than the source material.)

But Kanye West didn’t just tip his hat to Ellis — he involved him in the project by getting him to write the (terrible) script for the Scott Disick-starring parody.

At least that’s what Bret Easton Ellis is telling MTV:

“I wrote it. Kanye came to me and asked me to write it so I wrote the promo. I just got a text one day… it said, ‘It’s Kanye, do you have time to rap?’ And then suddenly my phone rang and someone said, ‘Kanye got your number and he wants you to write this promo for Yeezus,‘ ” Ellis told MTV News. “And so we went back and forth on it and he wanted it done, like, that day. So I wrote it very quickly and they shot it two or three days later.”

My only take away from this: If I ever get a text that says, “It’s Kanye, do you have time to rap?” and — IMPORTANT CAVEAT — it’s really from Kanye, I will die a happy woman.
