Black Dresses Look Nice, That's Nice

CelebritiesDirt Bag

At tonight’s Golden Globes, celebrities will be wearing all-black in solidarity with accusers who’ve spoken out about the serial rapist (alleged, fine) who’d been lionized for decades by their peers. And stylists are thrilled about this choice of dissent because there’s like sooo much you can do with black! Here’s a quote from stylist Erica Cloud on ABC News:

“Because everybody does look good in black there is that kind of ease to it,” she explained. “However, I think there still can be individuality in that where some people are going to have full skirts, some will have body-conscious ones, some people will be in tailored pieces. I am excited to see the variations of how people wear it and with my clients specifically none of their looks are similar.”

That was an absolutely straight-faced quote about rape. Once more:

“Because everybody does look good in black there is that kind of ease to it,” she explained. “However, I think there still can be individuality in that where some people are going to have full skirts, some will have body-conscious ones, some people will be in tailored pieces. I am excited to see the variations of how people wear it and with my clients specifically none of their looks are similar.”

Maybe on top of styling, somebody will have the chutzpah to call out the enablers in the room? The rest of the headlines are pretty lame aside from this poster artist(s) who’s been doing so.

Here’s the rest:

  • Parties you will not attend [The Hollywood Reporter]
  • “The time is right”! for all-black [Telegraph]
  • “Time’s Up” pins: so hot right now. [Twitter]
  • It’s so hard to find individual all-black looks, but you can work with the hair. [Telegraph]

Et tu, Kate Winslet.

Love SZA.

Reminder for the December 2018 year-end highlight round-ups: on Saturday, January 6th, somebody running the USArmy’s Twitter account liked (and then unliked) a Mindy Kahling tweet making fun of Trump’s tweet claiming that “Actually, throughout my life, my two greatest assets have been mental stability and being, like, really smart.”

My favorite news story was denied their choice of wedding reception venue by royal aides, the Daily Mail reports. Also: does wearing fancy hats mean giving up feminism? Omg she was on Nick News! She gave the queen a singing toy hamster for Christmas.
