Bill Gates Wants to Play, Get Badly Beaten by Girl Chess Genius

Latest

The adorable human nerdburger that is Bill Gates wants to play chess against Uganda’s chess whiz-kid, 17-year-old Phiona Mutesi. Good luck, bro. We’re not sure exactly how tough the game would be for Mutesi — seeing as she’s already earned the title of Woman Candidate Master (WCM) at just 16 years old, and is well on her way to Grand Master status — but hopefully she’ll indulge the old chap.

The captivating Queen of Katwe documentary short above is about Mutesi, and the game would be part of her U.S. promotional tour for a book of the same name by American writer Tim Crothers, The Queen of Katwe: A Story of Life, Chess, and One Extraordinary Girl’s Dream of Becoming a Grandmaster.

“Bill Gates was impressed with the book and articles about Phiona Mutesi. He approached her benefactor, Katende and asked for a game with her as she toured the US,” highly placed sources in the Uganda Chess Federation (UCF) told the New Vision Sport.

We’d wish Mutesi luck but we’re pretty sure she doesn’t need it.
