Claudia Galvez, 38, director of the Friends of the Peruvian Hairless Dog Association, has written a letter to the U.S. embassy in Lima explaining why she'd like to give a hairless puppy to Barack Obama's family. "They do not cause any type of allergy and are very friendly and sweet," she says. Galvez has a 4-month-old puppy to send to the Obama family, and she calls it Ears. "But if we send it to the United States, its official name will be Machu Picchu," she says. A dog that doesn't shed and clearly needs a Federally-funded wardrobe could be perfect for the White House! Part of the joy of having a puppy is the process of picking out the one that you like best and that will fit your family. People telling the President-Elect's little girls what they should get is a little rude/imposing. Let them have the fun of choosing their own puppy! Suggesting that they get a shelter dog is one thing (because there are all kinds of puppehs in shelters), but dictating the exact dog to them? That leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Quit stealing their fun.
