Barbra Streisand: Misogyny Is "Annoying"

Babs was on Larry King Live last night, discussing her first book—My Passion for Design—about her hands-on remodeling of her Malibu estate. One contractor got mad over her micromanagement and perfectionism, which she chalked up to "annoying" sexism.

She points out that a man in her position would have been admired for his dedication to such a project, but that, as a woman, she was considered a pain in the ass. It's something she's dealt with before, as a female director, and she's basically sick of it. Babs added that, in a way, she's happy that Hillary Clinton wasn't elected president, because this economic crisis may have been blamed on her gender.

Well, she ain't lying. 95% of the reason why Babs gets slammed is because she rolls the same way that the male shotcallers do while reveling in the fact that she's a woman - precisely why I love her. She's paved the way for many a woman in Hollywood and they all should be lining up to thank her for proving that you can chart your path to success, bring your vision to fruition, and become a power player without having to downplay her gender or wilt in the face of Hollywood sexism and misogyny.
