I feel like they’re giving us a fairly uneventful two episodes at Lallybroch to prepare us for whaat I can imagine is going to be a fucking intense season finale that is about to happen. I may myself not watch it until right before next season cuz I’m so freaking nervous about what happens. At least the rest of the Read more

A this point, I wish they'd have warned folks that the show would deviate heavily from the book post-marriage without much rhyme or reason (not as though it's a "this scene would cost too much" calculus). Not unwatchable by any means, but just ... perplexing.

I thought it was pretty clear that Claire *didn't* know anything about birthing no babies, that's why she was a little hesitant. I thought it was a good episode overall considering that 1/2 of it was straight up from the writer's imaginations - I thought they did a good job though with The Watch & setting Jamie up to Read more

I could feel Claire's pain at the end, glad to see Ian, but wondering where the hell her Jamie was. Caitriona was very beautiful in the last scene with her looking for Jamie on the road. Read more

Fellow book readers: what are your thoughts on this episode’s divergence from the book? Thus far the differences haven’t really bothered me because I thought they were handled well, but this one made me kind of frustrated. Am I alone in this? Read more

Laura Donnelly’s (Jenny) accent is driving me nuts. I first saw her first in The Fall, now I can’t unhear her Irish accent. She was however much more likeable and compelling this week; softer more vulnerable. Also Jamie actually keeps getting physically more attractive as each episode progresses. I wasn’t sold on Sam Read more

Oh sure, I think Claire looked pretty shifty when she said “I’ve seen childbirth.” Like, maybe once? From a distance? Anyway, as a person with medical expertise of any kind from 200+ years in the future, she’s probably still the most qualified person present to deal with it. Read more

I think the casting people have done a wonderful job with this show. The actress who plays Jenny is wonderful, and I wasn’t too sure about Ian last week, but he did a great job this week with the PTSD after he killed Horrocks. It makes me hopeful about next season, and on into future seasons, because I really love Read more

This felt very much like a filler episode, even though they tried to cram it full of events. It was fine I guess, although I find it very dubious that a WWII combat nurse would know anything about delivering breech babies. Read more

On the Royal Baby, there is a Royal Onesie. And on that Royal Onesie, is some Royal Baby Barf. And in that Royal Baby Barf, there are some Royal Mushed Peas. And in those Royal Mushed Peas....

It’s ironic that the 1907 report of the Spanish prince’s birth was so sad in its tone. The prince, Alfonso, actually turned out to be a hemophiliac. His mother, Victoria Eugenie of Battenberg, had inherited the hemophilia gene from her mother Beatrice, who had in turn inherited it from her mother, Queen Victoria. Read more

The New York Times went apeshit over QEII’s birth. It ran several articles during the week following her arrival, including a half page article was published on the new little princess - her ancestors, her Scottish blood, her cradles, the works. Read more

I can’t resist Prince George those cheeks! Also the fact that even mom said he grew an extra “fat roll” while on vacation in New Zealand. lil Cherub of a prince.

I see the resemblance now! Pity he didn't take after his mother.

allow me to give you this beauty, Vivien as Titania in an Old Vic production 1937. again, her eyes have such power...
