@SomeAuthorGirl: I'm sorry I didn't articulate myself better. I don't think that paddling is "legal sexual assualt on young women." I'm not necessarily surpised that paddlin' is still legal in the South, but I grew up where it was the norm. "Paddlin' or Suspension." Read more

@bluebears: Well, in this instance, THE SCHOOL decided. The school can and did set dress-code standards for their students at a school event. Read more

@FrankiTheB: We had rules about shorts - they could only be 2 or 3 inches (I can't remember which) above the knee. The teachers had rulers, and if you violated it you were sent home to change. Read more
