When it comes to holidays, the theory is generally that you can never have enough of them. Though one Arizona lawmaker might be pushing the limits of that rule. During a conversation on the floor of the Arizona House Rep. Richard Miranda proposed a Latino American Day in Arizona, to celebrate the accomplishments of the state's many latino residents. That seems harmless enough, but a heated debate ensued, and after a while Rep. Ash jumped in to say, "I'm supportive of this proposition. I just want them to assure me that when we do become in the minority you'll have a day for us." Ohh, interesting idea...

He clarified later that he was just trying to lighten the mood, but he is serious that Caucasian-Americans should have their own celebration once they're outnumbered. I guess Presidents Day and the countless lesser holidays celebrating the accomplishments of white people just aren't enough for him.

The best part is that the local news channel took to the streets to see what people thought. One woman replied with, "Good idea. Like they have Cinco de Mayo for Mexicans. We need something for whites." If by "whites" you mean Americans, then, yeah, we already have that, lady. It's called the Fourth of July. Maybe you've heard of it?
