Did anyone else just love the shit out of The Worst Witch growing up? Starring Fairuza Balk as witch-in-training Mildred Hubble, Tim Curry as the Grand Wizard, and Charlotte Rae (aka Mrs. Garrett) in a double role as teacher Miss Cackle and her evil twin sister Agatha, it first aired on TV in 1986. For me, it was one of those staples (like It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and any of the Halloweens) that always came on TV every year, and made the holiday actually feel like a season, rather than one day. When I re-watched it this week, I loved it just as much but couldn't believe how public access Tim Curry's "Anything Can Happen on Halloween" number is.
OH SLUT MACHINE! You have dug deep into my freaky little girldom and found my guilty pleasure: anything that starred Tim Curry.
Oh, how I wanted to be The Worst Witch. Oh how I wanted to be Fairuza!
Thank you. That was the bestest birthday present ever.
