In another completely astonishing development in the progress of women, banks have begun to notice that women have money they didn't get from their parents or ex-husbands and quite possibly have different things they might want to do with that money. Also, making your brochures pink doesn't make your institution or your products more attractive to female consumers of financial services. My mom, however, would like to just ask her bank to stop asking for my dad when they call, since he's not really allowed near the checkbook anyway. [The Guardian]
I'm so with your mom, Lobbyist! Whenever she gets a call asking for
the man of the house, she lies and says there is no man of the house.
When they say, "Oh, then may I speak with you?" she says, "Not if I'm
second choice" and hangs up the phone.
(This was even before my dad went into semi-retirement, started
working from home and doing all the cooking. Obviously, my mom now
brings home the main dough.)
