Former Today cohost Ann Curry is being considered for one of the open seats at the The View.
According to a report from the New York Post, Curry is in the running despite the fact that she is still under contract with NBC.
Ann Curry is smart, an excellent journalist and it's always nice to see more women of color on television. However, is it just me or does this not really feel like her wheelhouse? The fluffier stories on Today were never her strong point and she always seemed to do better with one-on-one interviews than in a group setting.
I'm also having a hard time imagining her interactions with the recently added Rosie O'Donnell. On the plus side, she doesn't strike me as the yelling type, so we likely won't have to endure a redux of those inane split screen arguments during the Rosie vs. Elisabeth days.
The Post notes that Mario Cantone, Bernadette Peters, Leah Remini, S.E. Cupp and Meghan McCain are also in the running as The View looks to replace Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd. The choice of Ann Curry feels like the closest ABC can get to bringing Meredith Vieira back, because let's face it, that's what everyone really wants.
