And Here Is Italy's Singing Nun Covering 'Like A Virgin'

Sister Cristina, the singing nun who charmed the pants off The Voice Italy with her Alicia Keys cover, has just dropped her first single. It’s a revamped rendition of Madonna’s “Like a Virgin.” Man, that Pope Francis really is shaking things up, huh?

That’s according to NBC News. Don’t expect her wimple to get wrinkled while she writhes around on the floor, though. Her take breaks radically with the original track, she informed an Italian newspaper:

“Reading the text, without being influenced by previous interpretations, you discover that it is a song about the power of love to renew people [and] rescue them from their past…. We have transformed this song from the pop-dance piece, which it was, into a romantic ballad … something more similar to a lay prayer than to a pop piece.”

“I’d like to see [Madonna’s] face when they tell her it’s a nun singing,” she added. You and me both, Sister.
