Save the Children, an international non-governmental organization promoting children’s rights, has just released its annual report State of the World’s Mothers. The index gauges the conditions of mothers on five different criteria—maternal health, the mortality rate of children under five; economic status; number of years of formal schooling for women; and women’s participation in national government—in nearly every country in the world, and then ranks them accordingly.

Scandinavia is the best place in the world to be mother, while Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia are the worst. Check out the annotated map above for more info.
