It’s scary to think what might happen to an ordinary citizen when a celebrity puts them on blast, but my first response to this story was not compassionate.
Early on Saturday afternoon, Amy Schumer posted a pic on Instagram of a man who looks very pleased with himself:
Her caption reads:
This guy in front of his family just ran up next to me scared the shit out of me. Put a camera in my face. I asked him to stop and he said “ no it’s America and we paid for you” this was in front of his daughter. I was saying stop and no. Great message to your kid. Yes legally you are allowed to take a picture of me. But I was asking you to stop and saying no. I will not take picture with people anymore and it’s because of this dude in Greenville.
While I have never asked a celebrity for their picture, I like for the option to exist. Now my dream of taking a grainy photo in a barely lit bar with Amy Schumer is extinguished.
Well, let’s see if getting called out by someone with 4 million followers changes this guy’s perspective on privacy. I genuinely hope his life isn’t destroyed, even as I simultaneously want to slap that smug grin off his face.
