Her widower writes that when he heard Isabella had swallowed poison, “my immediate feeling was one of sickening déjà vu: my own father had died in 1977 after drinking weedkiller, and it had killed him in half an hour as the liquid burned out his insides — a story I had shared with Issie the first time we met.
