After $2.2 Million Expedition, Amelia Earhart's Lost Plane Is Still Lost

Illustration for article titled After $2.2 Million Expedition, Amelia Earharts Lost Plane Is Still Lost

A $2.2 million expedition conducted by The International Group for Historic Aircraft Recovery (TIGHAR) in order to discover the lost plane of famed aviator Amelia Earhart has returned from its most recent attempt empty handed, having failed to produce photos or conclusive evidence of the wreckage. TIGHAR remains convinced, however, that Earhart crashed into the reef off of a remote island in the Pacific Ocean.

This month, it will have been 75 years since she and her navigator went missing while attempting to fly around the globe and still — still — no one has thought to check the island where she is likely hanging out with Biggie, Tupac and the Lindbergh baby.
