A Slice of Will and Kate’s Wedding Cake Just Sold for $7,500

Latest

Remember that one time back in 2011 when Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, took Catherine Middleton to be his lawful wedded wife as the Duchess of Cambridge? Turns out there are still leftovers from that wedding reception.

Julien’s Auctions had bought the slice of the eight-tier wedding cake—that took five weeks to make—from one of the wedding guests and expected it to so for $1,000 maybe $2,000. Boy were they wrong. Someone bought that 3-year-old cake for $7,500. For the record, a slice of Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s wedding cake went for $6,000, but the slice was about 27 years old at the time of the auction.

The cake comes in a tin with a blank wedding invitation on the Queen’s stationary. It should come with some tea to wash it down with. Or Sambuca if it’s really not that tasty.
