30 people died in this attack though some elderly were able to escape, according to the LA Times. In addition to adults and children, Boko Haram militants also took babies, a new trend. Like the #bringbackourgirls missing 300 the Nigerian government won’t confirm many details however Nigeria’s Premium Times reports that the militants also attacked several other areas last week.

These attacks come as Brigadier General Ibrahim Sabo delivered his final report on the missing girls from Chibok on Friday, writing that 219 are still at large and 57 have escaped on their own (via Newsweek). President Goodluck Jonathan and his government initially moved slowly, and only after the international pressure of the social media #bringbackourgirls campaign coupled with physical protests in Nigeria, to return the girls but without success or military movement. The government banned the #bringbackourgirls protestors earlier this month and accused them of supporting the country's opposition for decrying his slow non-action.

"We are ... pained that the schoolgirls remain in captivity," Sabo said in a statement. "The hostage situation that this represents is obviously delicate."

So delicate in fact that no one seems to be making any definitive plans to save the missing, not just girls, but people.

Does it make me a warmongering simpleton that my first thought was "isn't this what drones are for?"
