Conservatives Must Literally Purchase Their Female Supporters

Latest

The National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB), a group of conservative businesses that endorses the likes of Todd Akin, is apparently so without female constituents that they had to manufacture them. Enter always useful stock images. NFIB picked from several stock image sites to populate their website with happy, healthy women of various ages and races. It’s a gorgeous mix of women who have no relationship to the NFIB.

This reminds me of the time when my naturally skinny friend showed up on the Weight Watchers website. There she was, another DubDub success story, ecstatically munching on popcorn drenched in Molly McButter before presumably running 10 miles to work off the points. Except, no, she’s never been on Weight Watchers and eats cake for pretty much every meal; she was just a college girl in her dorm room trying to make a few extra bucks.

That’s the magic of stock photography, though — you can have an after picture where there never was a before, and you can create a diverse array of female conservatives out of thin air. Hey, perhaps this is how they can fill out Romney’s next binder?
