British Soprano Sarah Brightman Is Taking Her Act to Space

You can add one more name to the list of celebrities who are indulging in the ultimate cosmic Treat Yo’ Self. British soprano/musical staple Sarah Brightman is the most recent famous person to use her enormous wealth to launch herself into outer space. Brightman — having dreamt of going to space since she was a little girl — has already begun medical assessments and training at the Russian Federal Space Agency to prepare for her very reasonably priced multi-million dollar orbital tour.

“I don’t think of myself as a dreamer — rather, I am a dream chaser,” Brightman said. “I hope that I can encourage others to take inspiration from my journey both to chase down their own dreams and to help fulfill the important UNESCO mandate to promote peace and sustainable development on Earth and from space. I am determined that this journey can reach out to be a force for good, a catalyst for some of the dreams and aims of others that resonate with me.”

Oh, and she also wants to sing a song in space because — dammit — she paid the money and now she’ll do as she pleases.

In addition to her plans to fly to space in 2015, Brightman has also purchased a $20K ticket on Virgin Galactic, Richard Branson’s space Jeep that has also sold seats to fellow famouses Ashton Kutcher and Katy Perry. The guy from Two and a Half Men, the 27-year-old who’s obsessed with candy and a lady who knows all the lyrics to CATS? Is this real life or are they just describing my dream travel companions?
