They Paved Paradise and Cast Taylor Swift as Joni Mitchell

Sheila Weller’s book, Girls Like Us — a biography of Carole King, Joni Mitchell, and Carly Simon — is being turned into a movie. And Taylor Swift will play Joni Mitchell.

Taylor Swift’s acting credits? Well, she did a guest stint on CSI in 2009. In 2010 she played a cheerleader in the abominably terrible Valentine’s Day. She was also the voice of a character in The Lorax and did a smattering of skits when she hosted Saturday Night Live.

Maybe TayTay will do a good job, but it feels wrong somehow. Joni Mitchell is a legend, in the Songwriters Hall of Fame… not someone who sings her diary out loud. In other news, Alison Pill is allegedly playing Carole King and Mad Men‘s Jessica Paré might be Carly Simon.
