Openly Gay Actor Rupert Everett 'Can't Think of Anything Worse' Than Two Gay Dads

Star of My Best Friend’s Wedding Rupert Everett has recently come under fire from gay rights activists after the 53-year-old actor openly criticized gay parenting in an article with Great Britain’s Sunday Times Magazine.

Everett, who has been openly gay for the past 20 years, told the magazine how his mother, despite accepting his orientation, still wishes that he would have a wife and kids, believing that parenthood should be a right only given to heterosexual couples. Everett then added:

“She thinks children need a father and a mother and I agree with her. I can’t think of anything worse than being brought up by two gay dads.”

Rupert Everett can’t think of anything worse than a child being brought up by two male parents? I can think of a ton of worse things — being brought up by parents who don’t want you, spending your childhood in and out of foster care, the soft rock revival, iceberg lettuce, splinters. See? And that was just off the top of my head.

Everett continued:

“Some people might not agree with that. Fine! That’s just my opinion. I’m not speaking on behalf of the gay community. In fact, I don’t feel like I’m part of any ‘community’. The only community I belong to is humanity and we’ve got too many children on the planet, so it’s good not to have more.”

There you have it. Rupert Everett will not be having any children, which is only bad news if you’ve been eagerly awaiting Cemetery Man 2: Cemetery Baby.
