Tammy Baldwin Is a Totally Gross Lesbian for Daring Dance at Gay Pride Parade, Says Asshat Republican

Latest

If all goes according to plan, come November, Wisconsin Rep. Tammy Baldwin will become the first openly LGBT person elected to the US Senate. But if all goes according to the, uh, Chick-fil-A agenda of one of her opponent’s top aides, Baldwin will be defeated, because this one time in 2010, she danced onstage at a gay pride parade while a woman dressed as Wonder Woman, and that’s not consistent with “heartland values.” Nope — in the heartland, they don’t hold gay pride parades. They hold homo shame sulks. Much less glitter cleanup.

Baldwin’s opponent is ex-Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson, and the weird “heartland values” statement came from his aide Brian Nemoir, who on Saturday linked to the video of Baldwin with the following rather bitchy accompanying tweet — “Clearly, there’s no one better positioned to talk ‘heartland values’ than Tammy.”

Shortly after sending the Tweet, Nemoir made his account private and returned from the hate-closet from whence he came, but not before enough people saw it to warrant some sort of response from the Thompson campaign. Nemoir has clarified that his views are totes separate from his boss’s, but are they? Not really. While Tommy Thompson may not be as in-your-face as his totally Rock N’ Roll lackey, his actions speak the same words that Nemoir typed.

As Dane101 points out, Thompson’s time in the Governor’s mansion was far from characterized by a friendly attitude toward gays and lesbians; as soon as he took office, he eliminated the Council on Gay and Lesbian Issues. When he was running for President for a hot second in 2008, he actually said that he thought employers should be allowed to fire gays and lesbians based on their moral feelings about homosexuality. He’s spoken out in favor of the Defense of Marriage Act, which outlaws same sex marriage and bars gay couples from enjoying the same civil rights that their straight counterparts do. No need for the Thompson campaign to apologize for a guy saying what he really thinks about gay people. In fact, this honest ugliness is much more appreciated than all this damn dog whistle talk. More, please! Show us your ugly!

Besides, as someone who lived in the great state of Wisconsin for the first 18 years of her life, I can assure you that being grossed out by gay people has nothing to do with “heartland values.” We’re much more into dairy products, beer products, and bickering about the Vikings and Packers.
