Everybody Make a Sad Face and Wave Goodbye to Twilight

Edward Cullen and Bella Swan have taken us on a long, relatively bloodless journey, and, come November, it will finally be over, which is nice because I think we can all afford to rest our feet for a little while. On Thursday, the cast of the Twilight saga, which will receive its fifth and final installment in November, gathered onstage at Comic-Con to mourn the passing of a much beloved and derided pop cultural phenomenon. Some cast members were so sad that, if you showed up all crazy-eyed with a DeLorean time machine, they’d jump into the passenger seat and scream excitedly, “Take me back to November 21 2008!” At least, Kristen Stewart wouldn’t turn down an opportunity to relive the experience:

If you told me tomorrow that we had to reshoot some scene, I’d be so happy because I do enjoy living in this world. We got to do it for four years and I put everything I had into it. Even though it’s a bummer to walk away, it’s something I’ll always have.

Stewart was joined onstage by cinematic father of her vampire baby and real-life boyfriend Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner’s abs, author Stephanie Meyer, and new addition Mackenzie Foy, who plays Edward and Bella’s daughter, Renesmee. Fans were treated to a tantalizing clip from Breaking Dawn: Part 2, though they had to queue for hours (some for days) in order to get in. The cast also took a sobering moment to remember Gisela Gagliardi, who was hit by a car and killed two days while camping out for her chance to attend last night’s event.
