Stephanie Alberti was 13 weeks pregnant when she went to the racetrack with her husband. She was standing outside cheering him on in motocross when lightning struck and hit her through the ground. Hello, new worst nightmare. She was temporarily paralyzed, but even after she recovered she had to spend the next six months worrying if her baby would come out healthy. That is so, so long to have to wait, and during that time she went to the doctor every single week.
Fortunately, Stephanie gave birth to a six-and-a-half-pound healthy baby girl named Sophia. Even her delivery was filled with drama, since the baby's umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck, but now that she's here, Sophia is doing well. Stephanie and her husband Derek joked that the lightning strike would give the baby a superhero personality or superhero abilities. So far she seems to possess the superhuman power to scare the crap out of her mother, but perhaps we'll see her real superheroic potential when she gets older. Regardless, she's got one thing going for her: She doesn't have to worry about getting hit by lighting, since it never strikes in the same place twice.
