Much unlike many a magazine editor who recommends you buy all sorts of crap that they most likely got for free, your Jezebel staff doesn't get jack shit (other than books, unsolicited). And that's how it should be. But on our own time, in our personal lives, we still buy stuff. So this is Worth It, our daily recommendation of random things that we've actually spent our own money on. These are the things we buy regularly or really like, things we'd actually tell our friends about. And now we're telling you.

I have a long, sad history with styling products. From the gel that made my hair hard all day long to the mousse that felt nice but did exactly nothing, I've spent a long time looking for something that will turn my hair from a shaggy mess into a mane of pretty waves. And now I've found it.

Aveda Be Curly Curl Enhancer was introduced to me by a stylist in Iowa City, and it's the easiest thing in the world. I just squirt a quarter-sized amount into my palm, rub my hands together, and scrunch (not comb) through wet hair. If you're feeling fancy, you can twist locks of hair around your fingers to make things even more curly, but I usually don't bother. A basic scrunching, followed by air-drying, leaves me with nice waves throughout the day. Also, my hair smells good and is not hard or crunchy or greasy.

I'm told you can also use Be Curly with a diffuser — the one time a stylist did this, I ended up with crazy eighties curls that were kind of hot in a gum-chomping mallrat sort of way, but were not really me. Your mileage may vary. I'm also not sure how the product acts with hair that's either very straight or very curly. All I can say is that it takes my naturally unkempt waves and makes them into something much prettier. A tube is $20 for 6.7 oz, which seems like a lot, but since it usually lasts me about six months, it's more than worth it.
