If you're one of the 823 couples who entered a lottery to get married this Sunday, congratulations! You've won!
Although city officials initially limited the number of Sunday weddings to 764 "to prevent clerks from being overwhelmed", officials say they decided to increase the number in order to accommodate everyone who registered for the lottery.
"Everybody wins!" said City Council Speaker Christine Quinn. "This Sunday, all New Yorkers will be winners when we make history and move human rights forward in all five boroughs."
City officials began alerting the lottery winners yesterday that they will be getting married on Sunday, which is surely more than enough time to plan a wedding.
