Stephen Colbert says he wants "a megaphone made of cash" (which he plans to use to shout out his supporters' demands during next year's elections).

That's right. Colbert is "setting up a special political committee" that will allow him to raise money from corporations, unions, and individual citizens alike:

When he files the paperwork later Friday at the Federal Election Commission, he'll also ask for a media exemption that will let him talk about the fundraising on his show, "The Colbert Report," without violating campaign finance laws.

Back in March, Colbert stated that he would be forming the committee, but quickly found himself mired in the strict rules regarding fundraising and the limited ways in which he could discuss his committee on national television.
