Amanda Knox Benefits From Witness' Conflicting Testimony

Latest

Things went in Amanda Knox’s favor once again this weekend when a key prosecution witness got his story mixed up during her appeal trial. Antonio Curatolo, a homeless drug addict, said he saw Knox and her boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito in a square near Knox’s apartment on the night Kercher was murdered. From the New York Daily News:

“The two youngsters were talking intensely to each other,” he told the court. “I can remember that in the piazza that night young people in masks were coming and going and buses were leaving for the nightclubs.”

Later he contradicted himself and said he saw the two on November 1, the night Kercher was murdered, not Halloween. The prosecution pointed out that he could have seen them both nights, but Knox’s lawyers argued that this proves he’s an unreliable witness. Curatolo declaring on the stand, “I have always used drugs … I want to clarify that heroin is not a hallucinogen,” probably didn’t help the prosecution either.
