Short Girls Less Likely To Be Tested For Medical Problems

Latest

In a study of 33,000 poor children from urban areas, researchers found that compared to boys, short girls are only half as likely to be tested for medical issues. Often shortness is found to be totally normal, but in some cases it’s caused by hormone deficiencies and genetic disorders. Other studies have shown that about twice as many boys are on growth hormone therapy, probably because it’s less socially acceptable for boys to be short.
