Eleven years after its release, Fight Club is still warping the minds of America’s youth. Nine boys in Tacoma, Washington have been expelled after school officials learned they had formed an after-school “fight club.”

Local station Q13 Fox News broke the story after one of the boys showed his aunt a cell phone video of the fights. It’s unclear why parents gave the footage to reporters rather than school officials, but after the report aired, the boys were immediately expelled.

It’s believed that four or five fights took place in a boys’ bathroom, and several others occurred at students’ homes. Tacoma Public Schools spokesman Dan Voelpel said the boys’ punishments would be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. As for what the school is doing to ensure there’s no more fighting (or organized soap-making) on campus, he said, “This particular bathroom that was identified will be locked immediately after school and no longer accessible and will be patrolling the grounds more vigilantly at school.”
