Natalie Portman Is Sick Of The Girl Who Wants To Get Married

Latest

Okay, no high hopes for a gossip item that begins with “Natalie Portman may be preparing herself for a life of domesticity…” (an entire life of it? Did we miss her quitting the business?), but Portman’s own words are better.

It’s essentially the rationale for the character she plays in No Strings Attached:

“Emma wants a relationship without the relationship. She just wants the sex. It’s unusual but funny,” Portman told FOX411’s Pop Tarts. “I love romantic comedies, but I’m tired of seeing girls who want to get married all the time and that’s all they’re interested in. I think there is a wider vision of how women can conduct their lives and what they want.”

She also said, “I think you can find both men and women that are into non-emotional relationships, because you get hurt, and you don’t want to invest emotions in that way again.” Or maybe, we would add, because they don’t want a relationship right now or haven’t met the right person for one yet.

On the other hand… we haven’t seen any spoilers, but isn’t the whole point of No Strings Attached that eventually they become emotionally invested in the relationship? And maybe, just maybe, get married at some undetermined point? Maybe Hollywood will surprise us this time!

As we’ve previously noted, that wider vision of how women can conduct their lives (or, one very particular one) is coming to a multiplex near you — not just with Portman and Kutcher’s movie, but with her Black Swan co-star Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake’s Friends With Benefits, due out in July. Check out the red-band trailers for both below. The second trailer is NSFW if your workplace is not safe for Ashton Kutcher’s butt and a briefly-shown naked woman in the background. The first one is safe for work as long as you don’t blast the audio.)
