After suggesting yesterday that stalking victim Erin Andrews was kinda asking for trouble with her sexy Dancing With the Stars outfits, View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck has tearfully offered her apology for being an asshole. Forgive her, oh forgive her, please.
Watching Elisabeth cry and publicly apologize, it's clear that she knows she said some serious bullshit yesterday. Here's a recap of her wisdom:
"In light of what happened ... and as inexcusable as it was for that horrific guy to go in and try to peep on her in her hotel room ... I mean, in some way if I [was] him, I [would be] like, 'Man! I just could've waited 12 weeks and seen this — a little bit less — without the prison time!'"
Andrews said last night that she cried when she heard the remarks, and that Hasselbeck's insights were "a slap in the face to victims of stalking and sexual predators." And now, at least, it seems that Hasselbeck realizes that; she called Andrews in addition to the televised apology.
On a side note: Hasselbeck mentions that it was when she explained the incident to her daughter that Hasselbeck really realized what she did was wrong. If she can't keep herself in check, at least a five-year-old can.
