The latest: Wedding Cake lost at the blood-red hands of Red Velvet; Key Lime Pie, meanwhile, took down beloved Blueberry. But! It's the last day of the Sweet Sixteen and for the Elite Eight, every vote counts.

[The original bracket and tournament guidelines are available here.]

Today's competition: In the Pie Conference, it's #2 seed Cheesecake (which is a pie) against #10 French Silk. In what could be fortuitous for chocolatey, silky underdog, a just-released study reports that a daily dose of chocolate can lower your blood pressure and reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes. Could this new information give French Silk an advantage?

Meanwhile, over in the Cake Coliseum, #7 Carrot will test its mettle against the #2 seed, the behemoth Ice Cream Cake. Medics are already on the sidelines.

Voting is below; be sure to scroll down and vote in both competitions! Polls close 4/1 at 1:55pm EDT.

I have been rigging the pie deck, voting for my least favorite.

That's right, Team Pie. There is a traitor in your midst. A fraud. You've been bamboozled. Sniped. Hoodwinked.

I just clicked on "French Silk," knowing full well that cheesecake is vastly superior, while simultaneously chewing on a piece of German Chocolate CAKE (work birthday).
